BUSINESS BOOST FOR CENTRAL COAST
Aspiring and existing business owners in the Central Coast can now access a NSW Government one-stop shop Business Concierge service, potentially saving them time and money when starting or expanding a business.

Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the Woy Woy Service NSW Centre would host a three week pilot of the inaugural face to face service on weekdays from 22 November to 13 December 2019.

“Small business is the engine room of the economy which is why Service NSW has transformed from being a one-stop shop for individual customers to also being a one-stop shop for business customers,” Mr Dominello said.

“We know that starting or growing a business can be complicated and stressful, and this service brings everything together in one convenient location.”

Small Business Minister Damien Tudehope said the Business Concierge service would assist businesses with advice and tips on how to start and grow a business.

“This is about government getting out of the way by giving businesses the tools they need to thrive,” Mr Tudehope said.  Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said Service NSW is transforming the customer experience for business owners as well as local residents.

“Service NSW has been a huge success for Central Coast locals and now the NSW Liberal Government is replicating this success for local businesses,” Mr Crouch said.

“Less time spent dealing with government means more time to develop your business and commence operations. I would encourage local business owners to learn more about this fantastic new initiative and make an appointment at Service NSW Woy Woy.”

The service complements the existing personalised over the phone support from the Business Concierge team and a digital platform which outlines the regulations and licences needed to start a small business across a range of sectors.

The phone service has already helped 5000 customers start or grow their business, with owners of cafes, restaurants and small bars saving up to 86 hours of effort, while slashing the time it takes to start a small bar by almost six months.

Central Coast Customers can make an appointment at the centre or by calling 13 77 88.

Update: Amazon Marketplace Australia - a New Sales Channel

Patrick Zuluaga - Tuesday, November 14, 2017
Update: Amazon Marketplace Australia is now live - visit https://www.amazon.com.au/

I attended the Amazon Marketplace Seller Summit Held at Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf Pyrmont. The session was focused on recruiting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to join the new Amazon marketplace. The Amazon representatives were very clear that they wanted retail businesses (retail and/or online) to consider their marketplace as a new sales channel to "Grow your Business in Australia and Beyond".

During the summit Amazon announced their plan to launch (nope no actual date was announced) simultaneously both the retail side of their business and the marketplace. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) were encouraged to list and sell their products on their coming Australian Amazon Marketplace.

The initial pricing was announced to be $49.95/month (ex-GST) for the seller and an additional referral/commission fee per product sell of between 6% to 15% depending on the product categories. They did mention that an initial discount to these fees would be available for the sellers participating in the launch.

My take on it was for any Australian retail business to consider using the new Amazon Marketplace as an additional sales channel for their products. Any business considering Amazon Marketplace as a sales channel must include a number of variables and decision criteria that must be reviewed and analyzed to work out if it is appropriate to list their products or a selection of their products on the Amazon Marketplace.  Amazon representatives advised that to be successful a sufficient number of competitive products must be listed.  Testing the marketplace with one product was not recommend by Amazon.

Some of the key decision criteria that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) must consider are as follows:
  • Consumer market segments (size of your target market demand versus possible competition from within the marketplace listings)
  • Price points and profit margins (less Amazon sales referral commission fees)
  • Uniqueness of your product
  • Ability to get your product/s into the crucial search/discoverability (buyers searching Amazon for your product)
  • Competitive shipping rates

The other point that Amazon took time to explain was their FBA (Fulfillment By Amazon). This can potentially be a significant advantage for the seller. Follow the links below for further information:

As a business have you considered or considering listing your products on Amazon Marketplace? Have you listed products on other Amazon Marketplace locations? If so, would you recommend it to others?

Google’s Knowledge Panel Adds “Posts"

Patrick Zuluaga - Sunday, July 09, 2017

Google’s Knowledge Panel Adds “Posts" :: Better Marketing Results :: PMZ MarketingWe all know how important Google is for search and for most business owners who’ve clued in to Google My Business knowledge panel, it’s become possibly the single most important digital asset for your business in organic local search.

But what if you could able to publish a mini-blog right on Google search? Think of it like a Twitter post that can be seen as part of your listing info.

Have you claimed (or verified) your business on Google yet?

Firstly, you must have claimed your Google My Business page. If not, start with that. You can’t post if you’ve not claimed. If you have already claimed your Google My Business page, sign in and have a look at the menu options on the right hand side. If you’ve not claimed your business on Google, then you have NO control over how you are represented Google My Business - not good! This is priority #1!

You’re signed in & ready to publish your first post on Google My Business (GMB).

To start your first post, simply click on ‘Posts’ and fill in the following parts:

  • A 720px photo to help clearly represent the post’s subject
  • A 4-6 word title
  • Write your post (max 300 words) with a key focus on the first 15 words. That’s all that will show up before clicking through
  • Decide on what to link
  • Options include: Learn More, Buy, Book Now etc.

Google’s Knowledge Panel Adds “Posts" :: Better Marketing Results :: PMZ Marketing(*Pro Tip: If you want your post to last longer than the default 7 -10 days, make your post an event that lasts as long as you want it to be live for. At this stage we don’t know what the time limit is as Google has yet to disclose this.)

Finally, preview your post by clicking on the upper right corner of post creation tool to see that it’s exactly how you want it to display and if ready, click create post to publish it.

The two most powerful words...

A call to action truly is a powerful and particularly useful way to increase conversions. My favourite of all, is "Learn More". Did you know that those two words are the most clicked on the web?

Remember, when it comes to local search, never underestimate the power of Google's search.
